I was looking at myself while having my haircut, it has been like 2 months since my last haircut. Gee, my face has grown big and fat due to the odd eating time. It was a long time since I looked into myself so long in the mirror.
I had a satisfying smile, I guess I have lived my life well and in a responsible way. I am able to take good care of my 2 brothers. At least they have a better start than me without having to save like hell to get their own cars.
At the age of 23, I have already finished my first car loan and now, waiting for my third car. Of course, I'm not into collecting cars, but no doubt car is what others judge you upon. Yeah, looking at my dumb face riding a bike might kill whatever hope one might have on me. But deep down, I'm proud.
I am not an overly self conscious person, but living and working in KL since 1997 had brought an awareness to me that there are conventions people would judge you upon. One being your transportation and the size of it. Being a guy, a male, I felt strongly on this and never had I try to deny its existence.
To me, guys who insisted on living their own way and denying the existence of the judgmental eyes are:
a. Unable to live up to expectations.
b. Coward!
.
.
.
.
n. All of the above!
So, I went home with my new hairdo. It's not exactly new as my hair style hasn't changed since secondary school. And having my hair done in Kimarie for the past 4 years without change shows how coward for me for a change.
Then I realised that my younger brother had a hair cut, too. He smirked at me and asked, "Kimarie again?"
"Yeah, you?"
He answered with a quirky smile,
"A Cut Above, you should go there lar! Then you know what's professional hairstylist."
"Did you see Winnie Loo around?"
"Of course lar, didn't you read the feature article in Female?"
"Got what? What's it about?"
"Haiyo, it's about Celebrity Hairstylist."
"So?"
"So hor, you can have your hair done by Winnie Loo for RM600 only lar. Wash, cut, color and blow, all included"
"Wah, RM600 can get me almost 20 CDs leh! Blow me!"
"Yeah, you and your music again!"
"..."
So, I guess a until n applies to me as well...
