Mini power cords shootout
Fantasy is a bold cord, having extended and unrestricted highs, bass is solid and tight with ample of energy. However, the mids is not the forward sounding one, not recessed, but relatively softer as compared to what it has to offer in the highs and lows areas. However, the boldness is a civilised one. Not of those harsh and rough ones. Everything is smooth and composed, especially the highs, extended yet not intrusive. But if the setup is really sensitive, you will soon realise that the mids carries fine graininess. If the setup is fleshy, then it mates real well as it gives the impression of airiness in the vocal.
This is based on A + B + C + etc between the Fantasy, Shunyata Taipan VX with stardust, Stealth Cloude 9 and Fisch Performance P5. Shunyata is the most laid back one with darker presentation, very refined. Fantasy by comparison is the roughest one, relatively, due to its lower league. But still, it beats the hell out of many sub-2K cords out there.
Fisch has got the strongest copper sound. The highs and lows are very extended and 'strong'! You don't hear hi hats as metal, but you can actually feel it!!! Everything has got strong definition with sharp outline, imaging is top notch!
The Cloude 9 shines in providing the best mids details, microdynamics and superb delicacy! Silver has got this character of resolving the finer details of instruments. The detail retrieval is very balanced across the frequency spectrum, unlike copper, which is quite apparent in the highs and lows areas. The mids density is the quality I am dieing to get with the C9. The silver bass is also very unlike what the copper could provide. Copper bass is very strong and comes in abundant, silver bass is very well defined and encapsulated with fine details. You might find them not as deep, but with further listening, you will find that the bass has got more texture and minute tonal detail.
So, with the Fantasy connecting my RGPC to wall and the C9 to my pre, I can foresee a very well balanced sound. But I can only tell after 1 week as my C9 will only arrive then. It's going to be painful while waiting!
