Paya Lebar,

Boxing Day...

下雨,真是出街不成what the HELL!

My trip to Singapore PT.3

Singapore Swimming Club was the place we played our match. The tennis courts were newly upgraded ones. How I wish we upgrade and maintain our tennis courts as frequent as required!

See how happy our players are?

After the match, I got the the rest of the day all for myself! Where else would I go other than Adelphi?! The audio haven for me! Oh, multi-orgasm!

Oh, next to Adelphi is Funan IT Mall, a centralised place for IT stuff. But it is better to visit Sim Lim for better bargains. But hey, check out the food court here, not the basement one, but the one outside. The mixed pork soup and braised pork fist are 2 delicacies I never miss to taste whenever I am there!

There is no reason for any sane audiophile not to visit Adelphi! Even if you do not plan to get anything, visiting Adelphi really makes my day! You would drool over the hi-end stuff that you could find there! Stuff that you do not even get to see in M'sia are all there!

Sadly though, hi-fi is really slow moving in S'pore now. Even the last time I came during December, the situation remained until now. They are just very conservative in bringing new products to S'pore! I asked about Stealth Audio Cable and Fisch, none them is actually known here!

Still, if you work in S'pore, SGD1300 for the Shunyata Taipan VX really shows how good the buying power really is! If you work in M'sia and wanted to get the Taipan VX, wait long long to save up lar!

My trip to Singapore PT.2

The first place we visited was Queensway Shopping Center, just across IKEA. I didn't actually know this place until those sports fanatics brought me there! I guess the best thing for Singaporean is how they centralised all the sport stuff and audio stuff under one roof! This place is haven for shoes, rackets and apparels! The price? Far lower than Malaysia even after conversion!

Some of the brands you can get here is so much varied than in M'sia, some you don't even get in M'sia! And many of the shops are more than willing to give huge discounts! I can't help but to wonder what the heck is our government doing? SGD210 for a racket which you have to pay RM500 here shows how poor our buying power is dollar to dollar!

Just across the street, you have a wonderful food court! I was browsing around and found this stall with a long queue. To me, whenever there's long queue, there's good food! So I just queue along without realising what food I am expecting. Ah, from the huge sign, I guess it's something like laksa in claypot lar.

As I come from Penang, laksa to us is asam laksa, not the curry type as the KL people would like to call. Anyway, either one is OK with me. Since the trip is paid, I asked for the SGD5 portion. Then I was greeted with a question, "Do you want 'hang'?" I said "huh?" for 3 times until I realised she's asking "si hum"!

There are more and more Chinese from mainland working in S'pore! Even the cleaners in hotel are mostly mainland Chinese. Where are all the Singaporean working actually har?

This was what greeted me on the tray, aromatic and thick curry! I can tell it's gonna be a great curry laksa before even tasting it! Indeed, very nice!

A great view of the food court during busy Friday lunch time. Hey, how come they have more sweet looking girls in their food court?! Where are all our nice looking girls? Why is it so hard for us to have good views in M'sia?!

Hey, the guy in the foreground is our first singles. A consistent and great player!

My trip to Singapore PT.1

It was early in the morning when I reached S'pore Friday and I had no idea where I was except the sky was so gloomy. Gee, looked like a storm was brewing. I guess it was like 7am in the morning. Have you ever tried checking in to the hotel but no room for you to sleep yet? I was really in need of a nice cosy bed to crash, but no room! Can't blame the hotel as we arrived in 2 tour buses! We were there for inter-country SCB Games, Malaysia against Singapore. FUN!

Instead of sleeping, we were forced to go out and find food to eat first. Just as we walk out the hotel, I saw this huge building opposite with a huge sign "Ministry of Manpower". Omigod, reminds me of Manpower in OZ where the guys would strip while they dance. Is the building filled with guys strip dancing?!

As we walk opposite, only then I realized the hotel was Furama City Centre, very near China Town. Not too bad lar the standard, room is quite cosy and bed is quite comfortable lar.

Viewed from the window of my room, I can see Hotel 81 just across the street. A popular spot for many!
