When you have expectation in life... what? More cables?

I have been telling myself not to spend, not to spend on this, not to spend on that. But when you have expectation in life, how could you not spend? When you want something to be better, how could you not spend to get better out of it?!

When I bought my home theater, price was the main concern as I do not want to fork the same amount as I've spent on my stereo. I shopped and shopped and found this little package from Onkyo, HT-S670. What do you expect when it only cost slightly over 2 grand?

OK OK, everything was cool. Nothing to miss considering the price paid, the sub is the size of 2 Dell CPUs in my office! Movie dialogue was great, no distortion even when pushed hard, something that many failed to provide even at double/tripple the price.

Then you know, I started to get itchy and wondered what better cables would bring to the improvement? I am a cable guy, I believe in what cables could do to a well balanced setup. Why, coz it happened to my stereo.

So, when I was in HK, I bought myself a set of component cables, sub cable and digital co-axial cable each. Damage done? Half the price of my home theater. Any regret? NO!

Cable is a strange phenomenon for those non-believer. It's just something to get the signal from here to there, 0 remains 0 and 1 remains 1 no matter what cable you use, right? Wrong! Read the cable theory from AudioQuest and you'll know!

VDM-3 digital cable, this brings really huge improvement to the surrond performance. Highs open up with huge soundstage, speaker to speaker transistion was stunning! Now you really feel what surround is all about with the sound enveloping you!

SUB-X sub woofer cable, darn! Now this really takes the sub performance to the max! No boom! It was taut and defined, just complementing the main rather than fighting for attention. I could not believe my sub could do this at this price point!

YIQ-1 component video, must buy! The white veil on black was gone! This is really transparency in video sense! Colors become more vibrant and grey/black gradient was top notch! It was sharp and life like 3D!

Highly recommended if you have just acquired your home theater!
